Bloodstream Infection of Double Lumen Catheter among Hemodialysis Patient

چکیده
Background: Infection is one of complication vascular access that can lead a higher morbidity, loss access, and even mortality. Hospitalized hemodialysis patients with double lumen catheter (DLC) have two to three risk for infection death compared arteriovenous graft. The aim this study was determine the rate in dialysis its characteristic. Method: A retrospective conducted Sanglah General Hospital. Inclusion criteria aged ≥18 years old who required DLC during April 2017 March 2018. Exclusion were without blood culture result incomplete medical report. Data presented demographic data, including microbial pattern bloodstream culture. Result: Among 42 diagnosed bacteremia (41.2%), 57% male, mostly using non-tunneled DLC. Coagulase-negative Staphylococci (23.8%) commonest pathogen infected DLC, followed by Staphylococcus aureus (9.5%) epidermidis (7.1%). Pseudomonas aeruginosa Acinetobacter baumanni, nosocomial counted 4,8 %. Conclusion: among Hospital 28.6% most common etiology (23.8%).

Incidence of bloodstream infection among patients on hemodialysis by central venous catheter.
This study evaluated the incidence and risk factors of bloodstream infection (BSI) among patients with a double-lumen central venous catheter (CVC) for hemodialysis (HD) and identified the microorganisms isolated from the bloodstream. A follow-up included all patients (n=156) who underwent hemodialysis by double-lumen CVC at the Federal University of São Paulo-UNIFESP, Brazil, over a one-year p...

Catheter-related bloodstream infections (CR-BSIs) are a common, frequently preventable complication of central venous catheterization. CR-BSIs can be prevented by strict attention to insertion and maintenance of central venous catheters and removing unneeded catheters as soon as possible. Antiseptic- or antibiotic-impregnated catheters are also an effective tool to prevent infections. The diagn...

Central venous catheters (CVCs) are used commonly for venous access during treatment, and catheter-related bloodstream infection (CRBSI) is a frequent, yet highly preventable, hospital-acquired infection. One of the performance elements of the Joint Commission's 2012 National Patient Safety Goals addresses the education of patients and family members on CVC care and management, as well as CRBSI...

To the Editor—I want to congratulate Bouza et al. [1] for their effort to solve part of the puzzle regarding the diagnosis of catheter-related bloodstream infection without catheter removal in critically ill patients [1]. I would like to make 2 comments to place the results in a broader perspective. The authors excluded arterial and Swan-Ganz catheters from the analysis, notwithstanding the fac...

BACKGROUND We report a case of a patient with chronic renal failure (CRF) due to fibrillary glomerulonephritis, who was admitted to our Hospital with fever accompanied by chills, of two days duration. Due to aggravation of his CRF, accompanied by severe metabolic acidosis, an internal jugular double lumen central vein catheter was inserted, through which he was hemodialyzed. METHODS Blood cul...
